Kerala Launches Balyaspandanam Health
Kerala's Balyaspandanam program will provide quarterly health check-ups for children in all 33,120 Anganwadis as part of the government's 100-day agenda.
The Kerala government is rolling out a new program to ensure the comprehensive health of children attending Anganwadis across the state. Called 'Balyaspandanam,' the initiative will be jointly implemented by the Women and Child Development department and the Health and Family Welfare department as part of the government's 100-day program.
The program aims to conduct health check-ups for children at the state's 33,120 Anganwadis every three months. Trained health professionals from the Health department will test each child's physical growth, nutritional status, eyesight, and hearing. The goal is to identify any issues early so that expert treatment and follow-up care can be provided promptly.
Program Implementation and Inauguration
Minister for Women and Child Development Bindhu Krishna will perform the state-level inauguration of Balyaspandanam. The event is scheduled for Wednesday at the Kodunganoor family health centre in Vattiyurkavu. Minister for Health K. Muraleedharan will preside over the ceremony.
Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V.V. Rajesh will inaugurate the program's growth monitoring mechanism on the same occasion. The launch marks the formal beginning of the systematic health screening effort.
Scope and Objectives
The program's primary objective is the early identification of developmental and health problems. By conducting regular screenings, authorities hope to intervene before minor issues become major concerns. The focus on physical growth, nutrition, eyesight, and hearing covers key areas of child development.
