CJP Criticizes PM Modi's 'Dimagi Naxal' Remark at SRCC

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday for reviving his 'Dimagi Naxal' remark during an address at Delhi University's Shri Ram College of Commerce. The pressure group's co-conveners said the Prime Minister missed an opportunity to discuss education and employment issues.

Modi made the comments at SRCC's centenary celebrations. He suggested that those supporting ideas he had criticized were being 'exposed' after he first mentioned 'Dimagi Naxals' in his Independence Day speech last month.

'As soon as I gave the 'Dimagi Naxal' homeopathy pill, all the 'Dimagi Naxals' started coming out one by one,' Modi said in an indirect attack on his critics. 'And now the public is also seeing the true colours of those who are encouraging this illness.'

CJP Leaders Condemn Speech

CJP co-convener Saurav Das called the Prime Minister's decision to label a questioning younger generation as 'Dimagi Naxals' at a premier college 'among the most shameful things a Prime Minister can do.' Das made the statement in a post on X, noting the speech occurred on Teacher's Day.

He argued Modi could have used the platform differently. 'He could have spoken about why SRCC's own teachers have had to protest over denial of medical and childcare leave,' Das stated. He added the Prime Minister could have promised better infrastructure for students or acknowledged the pressure of hyper-competition they face.

'A Prime Minister should give the young hope, not such stupid labels,' Das wrote. 'He should answer their questions, not vilify them for asking.'

Another CJP co-convener, Ashutosh Ranka, also criticized the speech. Ranka said the centenary event called for a discussion on education, jobs, and student challenges. 'Going to the centenary celebrations of a college as reputed as SRCC, you would have expected the Prime Minister to talk education, jobs, current challenges impacting students,' Ranka said. He concluded, 'Instead, he resorted to 'Dimagi Naxal' nonsense.'

Modi's Return to SRCC

The Prime Minister's Saturday visit marked his return to the college more than 13 years after a February 2013 address. At that time, the BJP was in opposition and Modi was a year away from becoming Prime Minister.

In his nearly 50-minute speech, Modi sought to contrast India's economic situation in 2013 with its position today. He said his 2013 address had set off a 'wave' and criticized those who had pushed India into the 'Fragile Five' grouping of economies. He said those critics were now 'unable to digest its 7.8% growth.'

Modi stated that India had moved from 'policy paralysis' to 'policy dynamism' during the 13 years of BJP-led government at the Centre. He recounted the challenges of 2013, including terror attacks, inflation, and corruption. 'Growth was at its lowest and inflation was at the peak,' Modi told the gathering of students.
