BJP Gen Z outreach meet urges 'youth' focus

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) brainstorming session on Saturday, August 29, 2026, concluded that young people should not be treated as a single bloc. The meeting, led by National President Nitin Nabin, included suggestions to abandon the term 'Gen Z' and to simultaneously engage the party's older voters.
Around 45 young leaders attended the meeting in New Delhi, part of a youth outreach initiative headed by Mr. Nabin. Committee members included party general secretary Smriti Irani and Chhattisgarh Minister O.P. Choudhary. According to sources cited by The Hindu, participants were invited to share views on improving dialogue with young people.

An attendee pointed to the 'horizontal solidarity' seen during recent Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protests over the NEET exam paper 'leak'. They noted this did not mean all young people shared the same life experiences or aspirations. 'Young people in Tier two cities and villages will have different ideas about life, their opportunities and what they think on various issues,' they said, advocating for graded engagement.
A Dual-Track Outreach Strategy
A number of participants underlined the need for differentiated engagement strategies and communication methods for various categories of young people. One participant noted that while greater youth engagement is essential, the party must ensure older supporters do not feel neglected. Another suggested energizing veteran workers is as important as expanding youth outreach, adding efforts should strengthen cadres' confidence in the leadership.
The 45 participants have reportedly been divided into five or six groups. Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and Chhattisgarh Minister O.P. Choudhary are among those tasked with leading them. Participants must send suggestions to their team leaders, who will compile them for further consideration.
All participants have been asked to submit recommendations within the next seven to eight days, preferably before September 10, for consolidation. According to sources, these recommendations will be considered for implementation in future party programmes.
Preparations are underway for youth-focused activities during the 'Seva Sankalp Mahotsav'. This event will mark 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public service journey starting 17 September. The meeting was also attended by Union ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw, Mansukh Mandaviya, and Jyotiraditya Scindia, as well as Ministers of State Kamlesh Paswan and Raksha Khadse.
